Basic arithmetic

Add, subtract, multiply, or divide two numbers. Example: 1,250 + 250 returns 1,500. Division by zero is shown as an error instead of an invented result.

Percent and percentage change

“15% of 240” uses 15 ÷ 100 × 240 and returns 36. Percentage change compares a new value with its starting value: (new − start) ÷ start × 100.

Discount and sales tax

A discount is removed first. Sales tax is then applied to the discounted subtotal. Local tax rules can differ, so confirm which amount is taxable where you live.

Tip and split bill

The tip is calculated from the entered bill, added to the total, and divided by the number of people. Rounding or service-charge rules may differ by venue.
